=========================================================== Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- The trek through the trees was difficult, it was extremely think you weren't entirely sure exactly where the flyer had crashed. The group spread out so that you could see more ground. After about an hour of walking, you eventually find some pieces of what might have been the flying machine. You start finding more and more bits of it, and eventually you find the metal frame with the engine on it. The pilot of the craft is nowhere to be seen. This message was last updated by the GM at 20:26, Mon 26 Feb 2007. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon looked around for signs of blood. After looking around, Solomon held his hands to his mouth and called out, Hello! If you're out there, we mean you no harm. If you've been hurt, I am a healer and may be able to help you. Welcome to Cedar Valley. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- Once they got to the wreck, Pierce tried to see if there was a trail of some kind that the pilot might have left. Skeeter and Khari would flip over this thing. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- X tries to silence Solomon, but it is too late. He ducks behind a tree. "He might be hostile," he says to the others, peering out from behind the tree and looking for signs of a trail. "If you are out there, please identify yourself!" X calls out. "Don't make any sudden moves. We're armed and don't want this to escalate." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Khari Saldeen ----------------------------------------------------------- Khari is itching to get a closer look at the damaged vehicle, but it makes sense to first see if there is a frightened man with a crossbow out there. Khari remains alert, and does not approach the machine closely, but he still tries to get a sense of how it was put together from the pieces he can see. (OOC: 09:33, Today: Khari Saldeen rolled 29 using 1d20+10. Craft Mechanical check.) This message was last edited by the player at 07:34, Wed 29 Sept 2004. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon glanced at X but made no move to find cover. He stood out in the open making himself as visible as possible. He took off his sword and placed it on the ground along with his bow. "If my friends make you nervous, I'll come to you alone and unarmed. We mean you no harm. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- X will wait to see what happens, covering Solomon from behind the cover of a tree. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- (OOC: I can roll Diplomacy if I need to. Sometimes just the words are enough though. No reason to tempt fate if I don't have to.) (OOC: 09:33, Today: Khari Saldeen rolled 29 using 1d20+10. Craft Mechanical check.) Khari thinks he could probably repair this thing ... if all the parts can be found and aren't too badly damaged. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- There is no response from anyone. You can't see any trails leading away from the wreckage, but it is obvious that the man must have moved on. For whatever reason, he has abandoned his flyer, rapidly. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Khari Saldeen ----------------------------------------------------------- Khari joins Solomon out in the open and starts scanning the area for parts of the flyer. After a moment he walks carefully to the largest section he can see and starts inspecting it for purpose and damage. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- Pierce mde his way to the craft. "Looks like we have a few choices. Go back to the others, stay here, or try to find the pilot. Is anyone able to follow tracks? I couldn't find any, but I'm not too good at that." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Phebe Irpeel ----------------------------------------------------------- Phebe regards the scene for several moments thoughtfully, scanning the visible wreckage slowly. When she spots what must have been where the pilot sat, she crosses to the corresponding wreckage, places her hand upon the seat, and closes her eyes... [Private to Gama Master: Impressions? Psychometry? Etc.? :)] =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- X will look through the flyer for any small items, any indication of the man's identity, and anything indicating where he came from. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon looked over the flier. He had done an apprenticeship with the blacksmith as well, but he knew that Khari's skill was greater than his. Perhaps he could help Khari repair the thing and with some study, perhaps learn to fly it. Solomon had spent much time studying science. He'd love nothing more than to do a study on the principles that allowed this thing to fly. But there were more important things at stake here. Turning to the others, he said, "Well, if he's in good enough shape to take off like that, he's probably not hurt too badly. We could get Pepsi or Redmond to try and track him. If we can't find him, maybe we can repair this thing and learn how to use it. Maybe he'll even come back for it. What do you guys think?" (OOC: The woods here too thick for horses, so we couldn't haul it out without making a path first. Is the damage too bad to repair the thing in place? If we could do that, maybe the guy would come back and fly it out. We might make a friend with information to share. Or maybe one of us can study the thing and learn how to use it. :) I guess that's why I bought ranks in various sciences.) =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- (OOC: I'm not sure which way the adventure is supposed to move from here. We can't find the guy or any traces of him and the woods are so thick. If we could move it out as you suggest, then maybe it would be regarded as a good artifact. I'm not sure where this is going if there are no clues around the flyer...) =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- (OOC: That's the kind of thing I leave to the GM. Just roleplay your character. No need to metagame. It'll work itself out. At least that's my two cents.) =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- (OOC: Not really metagaming so much as wondering if there's something I just totally overlooked in the posts (i.e. my character might know more than I do).) =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- Xavier finds something in the wreckage, it's a pendant. On the circular bronze disc on a thin metal chain is the number 8. [Private to Phebe Irpeel: As you touch the seat of the flyer, you get the impression of a man in the flyer flying over a village and dropping flaming bottles that explode on impact onto the hapless villagers below.] =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- "8? Does that mean anything to anyone?" Pierce will circle the crash site at about 100 feet to see if he can pick up a trail. If the pilot was in a hurry, he might have only covered his tracks for a short way. . . . =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- Pierce finds some tracks that lead off to the northeast. Khari finds more parts. He doesn't think there is any way this thing is going to fly out of this dense foliage. He figures that 4 or 5 people could drag the main piece of it out. Collecting all the parts strewn about the forest could take days. And putting it all back together likely will take a few weeks, and might require help from Solomon and Skeeter. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- X looks at the pendant for a while, pondering it. [Private to GM: Does this mean anything to X?] =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- pm [Private to Xavier Ashe: You haven't seen anything like this pendant before... but you figure the symbol is probably for some kind of cryptic alliance maybe.] =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Phebe Irpeel ----------------------------------------------------------- Phebe opens her eyes. With a somewhat grim expression, she gazes at the seat, and shakes her head slowly. She then goes over to join Xavier, but refrains from interrupting him while he ponders the pendant. When she looks like she won't be disturbing him, Phebe gently asks, "May I see that for a few moments?" This message had punctuation tweaked by the player at 22:32, Sun 10 Oct 2004. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Taking a glance at what X was holding, he shook his head to indicate that he didn't recognize it. (OOC: Just out of curiosity, could the figure on the pendant be an infinity symbol or is it definately an 8?) =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- Pierce returned after a few minutes. "Looks like the pilot is heading northeast. I fond some tracks about a hundred feet out. So, if we want we can try to track whoever it is and see what they want." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- To Solomon: The symbol might be an infinity sign, but it's definitely written vertically, and not horizontally as it usually is written. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon nodded. "The man might be injured and running scared. I think we should make the effort, but we probably shouldn't spend too much time on it. After all, tomorrow's gonna be a big day. On a personal note, I'd be interested in talking to this man and I suspect that I'm not alone in this." He looked around at the others. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Khari Saldeen ----------------------------------------------------------- Khari stands and sighs in frustration. " 'Ight as well follow t' g-guy. All this stuff 'd take days 'n days to fin', an' it ain't goin' nowhere." He touches a broken piece longingly, before getting ready to head off in the direction Pierce indicated. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- X hands the pendant to Phebe. "We need to find this guy. I've never seen this mark before, but I'm quite certain it belongs to some sort of cryptic alliance. We don't want that sort of thing in our neighborhood." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon nodded as if it were settled. "Lead on Macduff," he said to Pierce. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Phebe Irpeel ----------------------------------------------------------- Phebe holds up a hand to detain her companions. "Before proceeding, you should be aware of what manner of individual we search for." Phebe pauses, taking a breath. "I was considering in prayer the seat of this vehicle, and the pilot who recently sat upon it. I received an impression of a man in the flyer flying over a village, dropping flaming bottles that explode on impact onto the hapless villagers below..." Phebe takes the pendant from Xavier. "I suggest that we proceed with due caution. Please give me a moment to ponder this pendant in prayer, and see if we are blessed with any additional insight." Holding the pendant, Phebe bows her head and closes her eyes... [Private to Gama Master: Anything interesting with the pendant? Psychometry? Etc.? :)] =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon's eyebrows rose a bit as he looked at the others. He had seen her abilities in the past and had at least some faith in them. "What village?" he asked, remembering that the flier had just flown over Cedar Valley. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- Pierce frowned. "I guess then that it's even more important that we find this guy then." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- X says, half to Phoebe and half to himself, "There are men in this world more evil than the demons in any hell you can imagine. If any of you have heard of the Entropic Brotherhood, you know what I mean. Let's move out." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- After Phebe meditates over the medallion, the group set off in the direction that Pierce found the tracks. The tracks didn't last long but they indicated that the pilot had been moving north east. The team kept moving in that general direction. No one found any further tracks, however. Darkness was soon to fall upon the valley and the group came to a small clearing. They were still fairly deep into the forest area of the valley. [Private to Phebe Irpeel: You get an image of a man being choked by the necklace part of the medallion.] =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon let out a deep breath. "Guys, it's gonna be dark soon. This guy's moving fast and we've lost the trail. Why don't we head back to the mound for now and deal with that first? Maybe we'll get some news about whether he hit Cedar Valley or if it was another village. Once we turn the buggems problem over to the militia, we can get the others and go find this guy. We have the flyer and his pendant. We can use that to try and find him. What do you say?" =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- "Or," X says, "We could use ourselves as bait. He might circle around to us if we set up a very visible camp. Risky, but if he's searching for someone and sees a campfire, he might be attracted to it." He pats his rapier. "Just so long as we're prepared for him." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon frowned, "All my camping gear is back at the mound. I ran to the crash site as quick as I could. Besides, he probably will never see the fire as he is making a beeline home as fast as he can. Even if he does, he's running from us as fast as he can. He's not going to come back for a fire. I'm heading back to the mound. Tomorrow, we'll see about getting this flyer hauled somewhere Khari can work on it, that is if he's interested." Solomon cast a grin at Khari, guessing that he was chomping at the bit to do just that. "If we can get the thing running, we might be able to use the flyer to scout for him. Besides, if he attacked Cedar Valley, Phebe and I should go to the village to help where we can." Solomon turned to head back to the mound. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- [OOC: Here's how I'm tracking it in my mind. Please tell me if I'm wrong. The flyer came from the north of the mound. It crashed northwest of the mound. The pilot is heading northeast. I don't know which direction Cedar Valley is from where we stand.] X nods slowly. "You're probably right. He's heading back to warn others. But doesn't that mean all the more that we should make it a high priority to track him down before he brings a hoard down on Cedar Valley? Assuming, of course, that we can find him. If you really think we can't find him, then our only recourse is to go back and tell Sarge to get the people ready to defend themselves." [Private to GM: When you say X hasn't seen anything like the pendant before, can he positively rule it out as being from the Entropic Brotherhood, or is there a possibility of some relationship according to his knowledge?] This message was last edited by the player at 22:16, Thu 14 Oct 2004. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- (OOC: Pretty much, though it did pass us at the mound on the way to Cedar Valley, where it circled around several times and then passed us again roughly in the direction it came from. I suspect while it was circling town, he was dropping firebombs based on Phebe's testimony.) Solomon nodded as he continued heading back to the mound. "Believe me guys, I want to catch the pilot as bad as the next, but I don't want to go racing headlong after him with no direction and no equipment. We've lost his trail. There also might be villagers that need healing after a firebomb attack. I don't want to abandon the village in the time they will likely need us the most just so we can get revenge on this man. But believe me on this too, once we've done what we can and we're ready, I will find him and justice will be done. I can think of no better companions in this mission than you guys." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Khari Saldeen ----------------------------------------------------------- Much as he'd like to collect up all the parts, Khari realizes the realities of the situation. "Solo'n, it'd take days to fin' all t' parts, so I don' know if we'll be able t' git back here soon. What I'll do is look fer so'e kin' o' controll'r, so that the guys who 'ade the fly'r can't put it back t'gether too easy." Khari begins looking around for a piece or two of equipment used to control the flight of the machine. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- Pierce shook his head, and said irritably, "We won't have time to get clear of the forest before dark. We're probably going to have to set up camp here. Anyone have anything to eat? I gave most of what I had to the farmers." [Private to Gama Master: I figure that he's running pretty close to empty right now.] =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon shook his head. "There may be injured in Cedar Valley and like I said, I don't have anything to set up camp with since my provisions are back at the mound. It's only a few minutes to there. Then I'll be taking the horse back to the village. You stay here if you want." He continued to move towards the mound. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- Xavier Ashe typed:[OOC: Here's how I'm tracking it in my mind. [Private to Xavier Ashe: Private to GM: When you say X hasn't seen anything like the pendant before, can he positively rule it out as being from the Entropic Brotherhood, or is there a possibility of some relationship according to his knowledge? You can't be sure it's from Entropic Brotherhood or not. You've never seen it before. Typically Entropic Brotherhood do not advertise their alliance by the display of such things, though. An Entropic Brotherhood member would know certain phrases that could identify him to another member. He wouldn't have a medallion that anyone could see and learn what it meant. ] This message was last edited by the GM at 21:50, Sat 16 Oct 2004. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- Khari Saldeen typed:Khari begins looking around for a piece or two of equipment used to control the flight of the machine. The flyer is in bits and pieces. You find some kind of steering device but it would take 30 minutes and some tools to get it loose. It would be near impossible to re-assemble the flyer in the woods here. And even if you could, there is no way you could take off, the trees are just too thick so the propeller (which is busted) wouldn't have room to spin. This message was last edited by the GM at 21:54, Sat 16 Oct 2004. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Gama Master (GM) ----------------------------------------------------------- Just to clarify, it's maybe an hour walk back to the farm if that long (probably take that long since it's getting very dark so you'll have to move slow). I don't know what you might have carried with you or not, you'll have to decide that yourselves (so some of you might have gear to camp with and others might not). However, I do know that most people did not have any sort of camping gear written on their character sheets. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- Pierce shook his head at Solomon's comment and continued, "We walked for an hour to get here from the Gooselin farm. It took us half a day to get from the village to the farm. Maybe going back to the farm is a good idea, since there will be food and a place to crash there and it's not too far. But I don't think going back to the village will make a heck of a lot of sense. We need to track this guy down, and still deal with the buggems that are left. By the time anybody got back to town, sarge will have taken care of anything that needs doing. If he needs more help, he knows where we are." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon didn't slow down as he answered, "No Pierce, we didn't walk for an hour to get here, though it may take that long to get back in the dark. I am Darla's apprentice. If people were injured, I need to be there. I said that I am taking a horse back, and Phebe should probably come with me. Getting there hours late is better than not getting there at all. Darla's only got so much healing to spread around aside from just dressing wounds. It might mean someone's life, so I can't take any chances. The rest of you probably should stay at the Gooselin Farm until that problem is dealt with unless you have healing powers. And I think I already said that I'm planning to find this guy after we take care of the immediate threat, the buggems. And with all due respect to Sarge, he needs to be out here taking care of the insect infestation. He's not a healer. I know my duty Pierce. We'll be back as soon as we can, but we'll be worn out and will likely need to rest." This message was last edited by the player at 10:24, Sun 17 Oct 2004. =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- As they walk, X is pondering things. He seems to be relaxing. "I don't think that was the Entropic Brotherhood. That's good news. If there is an impending attack against Cedar Valley, we should be there. Once this guy gets back, he'll probably bring friends...and maybe more of those flyers." He pushes forward, thinking more. "Phebe, was your vision of something happening or something that just happened? Or was it some kind of prediction? I'm not sure how that works. Also, I happen to have certain...skills in healing. I could also be of assistance back at town. Sarge will also be looking for a...a full report from me as soon as possible." He holds up three fingers. "I think we have three options: We either wait at the farm while Solomon and Phebe go on; we all go back to town, with us walking and them riding the horse; or we all go back to the farm. I'm not convinced the buggem threat is over yet, so I'm fine with whatever." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Phebe Irpeel ----------------------------------------------------------- Phebe looks thoughtful. "There are certainly circumstances where I am blessed with predictive insight, most recently in the buggem's lair." "However, this time the insight I sought was more historical in nature." "Actually, I may have spoken a bit in haste when assuming that the vision I received pertains to the crashed pilot." "Based upon past experience, it would probably be more accurate for me to say that this flying machine has been used for such a purpose at some point in the past..." (Here Phebe fingers the pendant grimly.) "... just as the chain of this pendant has been used at some point in the past to choke someone." "What insights I perceive tend to be related more to the significance of the event, rather than necessarily to the amount of time that has passed." Phebe shakes her head at the violence and sinfulness of man, before looking at Xavier with a gentle smile. "I'm certain any healing skills you have would be most welcome. Solomon is quite right -- those of us who have been called as healers have a duty to serve when there is need. We must check to see if we are needed, as soon as possible." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- "So what you're saying is that the flyer might not have been bombing Cedar Valley at all?" =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Phebe Irpeel ----------------------------------------------------------- Phebe considers. "That is correct... and it may not even have been this pilot who did the deed. Although the fact that this pendant also carries a violent past is cause for suspicion." "I believe this flying machine was once used for such a purpose... but I do not know when or where, one way or the other." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Pierce ----------------------------------------------------------- Pierce shook his head somewhat irritably. "Fine. We can assume that the pilot isn't a very nice guy and that he's probably on his way to tell others where the valley is. Great. Wonderful. Let's go back to the farm and see if there's anything to eat. Once there we can figure out what to do next." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Xavier Ashe ----------------------------------------------------------- "Agreed. The farm looks like it is on the way to Cedar Valley anyway." =========================================================== Re: Act 1 Scene 7 - Team Flyer by Solomon Sheperd ----------------------------------------------------------- Solomon continued towards the farm, hoping fervently that Phebe's vision was not of Cedar Valley. He thought of his father and hoped that he was okay. =========================================================== |
