Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Gama Master (GM)
-----------------------------------------------------------
X walked casually into the militia meeting hall. He looked around and saw that several others were already in attendance. There was the tough farmer Apollo. The reverend's son Solomon was there. Kael and Pepsi were sitting together talking about something. The well liked Pierce was sitting alone for a change. Oh, and there was the little squirrel-man Skeeter.

Sergeant Foxworthy had sent for X, but he wasn't in the room apparently. He must have summoned the others here too. X took a seat and joined in to the conversation at hand.

[ OOC - you were all summoned here by Sarge, no reason was given ]

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Apollo
-----------------------------------------------------------
Apollo is busy being his usual friendly self, striking up conversations and joking with the people around him.  The big, muscular guy radiates an aura that makes it easy to get along with him.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Pierce
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pierce sat alone for the time being. It suited his current mood, and he wanted to concentrate on why Sarge wanted him and the others here.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Kael Laton
-----------------------------------------------------------
There was something nice about having someone else who hated being tied down to the town as much as Kael did, and that was having someone to talk to. Sure he knew who the others were, but that didn't mean he much liked them, or cared to. They were part of Cedar Valley, which for all that it was his home, was almost more an inconvenience where his explorations were concerned.

"Any bloody idea why we're here?" he asked Pepsi quietly. The other man, so similar in attitude and build as to be Kael's twin, was just about the only person he spoke to on a regular basis besides his family. "I found another ruin yesterday that I was hoping to explore.. If I didn't owe Sarge, you can bet I'd be out there right now."

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Solomon Sheperd
-----------------------------------------------------------
Solomon looked around the room.  He smiled in Apollo's direction and made a sympathetic nod to Pierce.  Good people.  He didn't know Kael very well as he seemed standoffish and Solomon wanted to respect his desires.  He wondered why they had been summoned, but said nothing.

After a bit of waiting, he broke out a battered deck of cards and began to shuffle them subconsciously, occasionally drawing one out, looking at it and placing it back in the deck and continuing his shuffling.

X walks in, hands behind his back, and looks at the others, flashing a smile to each.  "I'm sure Sarge has something great for us.  I've never seen a better leader.  And all of you will make great companions in whatever he has in store for us."

He pulls his hands out from behind his back, and you see the only visible sign that he is a mutant: claws.  "So, Solomon, what card games are you good at?  I once lost a card gambling tournament.  I'm sure you'll beat me at whatever your best game is.  I just enjoy playing.  Do we have time for a quick round?"

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Skeeter
-----------------------------------------------------------
Tapping foot nervously. "Ummm, I wonder what's going on. Given the composition of this group...", grinning broadly, "...it looks there might be some fighting involved," continuing to grin broadly with a distressed look in my eyes.

"Oh well, maybe I'm here to fix things. You know that's what I do. Fix things. Yep. I'm a good fixer." Looking at Solomon, "I also know metal working. I can patch things right up." My attention quickly moves towards Kael, "So, what do you think we're here for? Me, it's probably fixing things you know." Still tapping foot and grinning nervously.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Solomon Sheperd
-----------------------------------------------------------
Solomon smiled at Xavier.  "I like games where something is at stake.  It doesn't have to be much, but that is the reason for playing.  Usually poker, but I'm open to alternatives."  He slid out a chair for Xavier.

Tough young, Solomon, as the healer's apprentice, did very well for himself financially, and his skill with games of chance was well known.  His clothes were simple, but well-made, consisting of a royal blue tunic, dark gray tight-fitting pants, and a dark burgandy sash.  He usually wore tall leather boots.  But he was generous by nature, so he gave much back to the community.  In the times when he has involved himself in community project, his leadership was a boon to the project.

He looked over at his squirrely friend, "Why don't you join us, Skeeter?  As long as we're sitting here?  Let's play a few hands."  He knew Skeeter from the blacksmith's shop.  He'd spent some time learning from Oxarm himself.  Oxarm was generous with his knowledge, as he was aware that in these dangerous times, should the community be attacked, the skill of metalwroking and repair must live on for the betterment of the community.  Solomon had spent a summer at it, enough to become proficient at working metal and mechanical things, as well as minor repairs, but little more.  But he was pretty sure that Skeeter's skills surpassed his own.  Solomon had done quite a bit of reading on technology and had a firm grasp of the science behind it.

[Private to GM: Did I understand correctly?  The only way to have the Gambling skill as a "Class Skill" is to take the Profession "Criminal?"  I took the skill at Max ranks for a Non-Class skill and it cost me double.  I would think Gambling to be a Class Skill for the Charismatic Hero.  If it is and there was a mistake, let me know.]

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Kael Laton
-----------------------------------------------------------
For his part Kael had been staring blankely at Xavier. What the hell was that supposed to mean, 'great companions'? If any of them thought that he was there any longer then it took for Sarge to come in and tell them whatever he needed to say, they were mad. Completely bonkers, driven insane, inflicted with wasteland sickness.. whatever words you tacked onto it, Xavier was being crazy.

> My attention quickly moves towards Kael, "So, what do you think we're here   > for? Me, it's probably fixing things you know."

"Yeah Skeeter, we got the point. Fix things." His tone was not unfriendly towards the oversized squirrel, and neither was it harsh as others sometimes treated the young man. It just.. wasn't friendly either. From his posture, his words, and his tone, it was apparent that while the others might want to be there with some grand something awaiting them, Kael was mightily inconvenienced to be sitting where he was.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Pepsi
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pepsi sat there, his feet propped upon the table, waiting like the rest of them.  He had no clue why he had been summoned to this meeting.  The trooper who had been sent to his sister’s to retrieve him had not indicated he knew what was going on.  He had just stated that Pepsi was wanted at a meeting with Sergeant.  Pepsi had taken his time getting there but was still not the last to arrive.

Pepsi spotted Kael as soon as he walked into the place and was glad to see his friend. Although they were not related, they looked enough alike to be brothers.  Their love of the outdoors and exploring had created a bond between the two men that many never share.  Pepsi knew he would step up for Kael anytime he needed it and was sure the other would do the same.

Kael Laton typed:"Any bloody idea why we're here?" he asked Pepsi quietly. The other man, so similar in attitude and build as to be Kael's twin, was just about the only person he spoke to on a regular basis besides his family. "I found another ruin yesterday that I was hoping to explore.. If I didn't owe Sarge, you can bet I'd be out there right now."

”No idea.  His boy cornered me at my sister’s and ‘asked’ that I come in for a meeting.” he replied to Kael as Skeeter walked up to the table and began chattering away.  Pepsi returned his feet to the floor and pulled a hunting knife from the sheath attached to his belt.  He began cleaning from under his nails with the point of the blade.  He looked up and saw Xavier enter the room.  Pepsi watched the man as he made his way to join Solomon.

Pepsi thought about all the history between Solomon and himself.  Solomon’s father had practically raised Pepsi and his sister after their parents disappeared.  Solomon and Pepsi had been close as children as they both had big dreams about the outside world.  As they grew, they went in different directions.  Like Pepsi’s sister, Solomon had followed his father which caused a gap to grow between the youngsters.  As Pepsi became more polarized against the influence of the church, he distanced himself more and more from Solomon.  It was only within the last 6 months that he had realized something about himself and had actively sought out his psuedo-sibling and begun to re-establish a relationship with him.  Things were still a bit awkward between the two though and would take time.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Pierce
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pierce seemed to break out of his reverie at X's and Skeeter's comments. "Well, Skeeter, I don't know. Maybe . . ." he paused and looked out the window to the north "maybe he wants some people that aren't afraid to leave the valley. I don't know. We'll find out soon enough."

He moved closer to the card playing group.

The strongman Apollo takes a chair and sits down with the card players.  "Mind if I join?"  He smiles magnanimously, "I don't have much money, but I can wager a few vegatables or something."  He crosses his chiseled arms over his massive chest.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Solomon Sheperd

Solomon smiled, "No stakes Apollo.  We're just flipping cards.  If you want, maybe later on we can get a little game together.  But people who are really good at poker don't win more hands than those who are just good.  That's mostly luck. Good players just make their hands count.  It's all about the betting.  That's where the real game is.  Knowing how to bet.  We can work something out.  But I'm not about taking money, I just like the game.  So if you want, maybe I'll buy the vegetables off of you."  He began dealing the cards out.  "How 'bout a little Texas Hold 'em.

"Yeah, asked. I'm sure." Kael heaved a sigh and sat back in his chair. He propped his feet up on a table and looked around for Sarge. If it wasn't for the fact that they were inside he would have already lit up a ciggarete. Not the real stuff that some of the books he had found talked about mind you, but a local weed that had nearly the same properties without the lung destroying side-effects.. he didn't think. At least, he wasn't hacking and 'coughing up a lung' like some of the books mentioned.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Xavier Ashe

X holds out a clawed hand.  "If you like, I'll be happy to deal.  I'm very good with cards.  The dealing, anyway.  Not so much the actual playing."

His claws look sharp but are in no way unattractive.  In fact, very interesting tattoo-like markings crawl up his arm from a hard, carapace-like covering over the back of his hand and then into cat-like retractable claws under his hardened flesh.  He could, in fact, be quite as good at dealing cards as he says.

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Pierce
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pierce nodded. "Sure, deal me in. I'm afraid I don't have much to bet either, so just playing to play is fine by me. I wonder where Sarge is?" There was just the slightest hint of irritation in the question.

He reached into a pocket, pulled out a piece of jerky and started chewing.

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Gama Master (GM)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Sergent Foxworthy walked briskly into the room like a man on a mission. He nodded at each of you as he passed, making his way to the front of the room. He cleared his throat, and began to speak.

"Gentlemen. Thank you all for coming at such short notice and without much explanation. I assure you, there are good reasons for you each to be here. There are strange things going on in Cedar Valley and they aren't good things."

"The first bit of news, is that two children, Bobby and Carrie Bernard, of the Bernard farm, have gone missing. They've been gone for four days. Two days later, the Bernards and a group of their friends set out as a search party, looking for the lost kids. It's now been two days since the search party has checked in with anyone."

Sarge lets that sink in for a bit, then continues.

"There have been other strange things that may or may not be related. Roy Gooselin of the Gooselin farm has been reporting strange things, like missing lifestock, and funny tracks and markings, at his farm for the last several weeks. It has also been reported by some of the local hunters that wildlife in the Valley has become scarce lately. None of this may be related to the missing children, but I thought it might be relevant."

Sarge coughs, and continues, "Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to locate the missing children and the group of adults that went after them. You have been chosen because you are the best and the brightest that Cedar Valley has to offer. I hope that you will choose to accept. There are substantial rewards for the success of this mission, as well. We can't offer a whole lot, but we'll do what we can. And naturally the Bernards and their friends will be eternally grateful."

"Oh, and there's going to be a second team, too, I just haven't gotten my mind made up on that yet, but they will be following along shortly. The reason for two teams is so that you can divide and conquer. Split up and search twice as much ground that way."

"Now, I'd recommend starting up at Farmer Gooselin's. What's been happening there might be related and it might be prudent to check it out. If you decide to leave the Gooselin's, leave a note for the second team, ah, Team Beta. I'm calling your team Team Alpha. Leave them a note on the front door or somewhere obvious and let them know where you decided to search next, so they can go somewhere else."

The Sarge grins, and says, "Well that's about all the intel I have on this mission. But you're free to ask me any questions. Also you can stock up on supplies and such. Stop by the melitia mess hall for some packets of food I've had them prepare for you. Let them know if you need anything special. Also stop by the armoury if you have need of a weapon or light armor. You can borrow them, just bring what you take back in one piece."

"And lastly, you have been granted the use of a mount, to make travel to the farm quicker. Now, since livestock's been missing, you can't leave them there if you decide to go off into the deep forest where it's too thick for horses. That's why I'm sending Dylan along to take the horses back if you decide you are going to quit using them. Now I know what you're thinking. He's only 13. But he can take care of horses. Just don't expect him to get involved in any fights for you."

"So, are you up for the challenge? Do you have any questions?"

Sarge smiles, and looks at your faces to see the reaction.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Kael Laton

"Yeah, I've got a question Sarge," Kael said without bothering to stand up. "If I do decide to go, which is a major 'If' right now, who's the leader of this little adventure. Maybe the rest of these guys are prepped for an adventure, but I don't exactly make it my life's work to hang around Cedar Valley. You know that. So.. I guess what I'm saying is why am I here. I haven't exactly tried to be any part of this place, and suddenly you want my help with this kid-hunt?"

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Pierce
-----------------------------------------------------------
Pierce looks a little irritably at Kael. "My guess would be that it's because you haven't spent all your time in the valley is why Sarge asked for you."

He took another bite of jerky.

"You've been around outside the safe confines of the valley a number of times, and returned. That's something not a lot of people can claim.

You return to your folks' house when it suits you or when you need something that you can't find out there. Like it or not, you're using the valley as a base of operations. If something bad happens to it, you're screwed."

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Apollo
-----------------------------------------------------------
Apollo nods "Exactly.  So you've got exactly as much stake in this place as any of us.

But whatever the case, I'm in.  This valley is my home, and I'm not about to let anything happen to it, or the people here.  No matter what's waiting for us out there."

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Gama Master (GM)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Sarge raises his eyebrows, coughs, and says, "Well, Kael, I'm asking you for help because I think you can do the job. You know the Valley better than most and you even know some of what lies beyond if this task should take you that direction."

"As for a leader, that's a good question. I think you guys are all adults. You're not officially part of the militia, so I can't assign ranks. You can vote yourself a leader. Or you could just vote democratically about what to do as situations present themselves. Maybe one of you will naturally gravitate to a leadership position."

"I'm not dictating to you HOW to do the job, I'm just requesting that you do it. If some of you don't wish to help, you are free to go. If the group gets too small I can combine the two teams into one."

"If you're looking for motivation as to WHY you want to help, that's a personal decision only you can make. Do you care about Cedar Valley? If not, maybe you'd be interested in some reward? Certainly the people of this village will be grateful for your help, and will offer help to you, in whatever ways you require. What would make you want to do this, Hmmm?"

"I've just got one question, Sarge."  X walks over and pats Sarge lightly on the back.  "Is there anything you need for that cough?  I am trained somewhat in the medical arts."  He pulls out a hankerchief.  "Or maybe this will do."

Standing next to Sarge, he tells the others, "I think you're all going to do just fine without a leader.  I say we're all in this together, and if you can't offer us at least that much commitment, then perhaps it's best you remain here."

He pats the rapier at his side with one clawed hand.  "I've got all I need here.  I'll just grab some food.  What about the rest of you?"

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Solomon Sheperd
-----------------------------------------------------------
Solomon stood up, "Well Sarge, you can count me in.  If you don't have any more information for us, we should go quickly so the trail doesn't get any colder than it already is.  I'll go get my things and meet whoever's going in the stables."

He turned and walked briskly out the door.

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Pierce

Pierce got up and went to Sarge. "Sure Sarge, count me in. I'll need to take you up on the offer of the armor and a bow and such. I'll meet you guys at the stables."

He finished the jerky and went to the militia to collect the supplies and gear.

[Private to GM: He'll try to sweet talk the people there into letting them get extra supplies.]

After Solomon had gather his things and gotten food from the mess hall, he went to the stables.  He smiled at Dylan and chatted with him for a bit before asking him about the horses.  He asked Dylan to pick him out a horse with endurance.  A few minutes later, he was finishing saddling up a strong-looking solid white horse named Smoke.

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Kael Laton
-----------------------------------------------------------
Well this little shindig had certainly started off on the right foot. "Holy crud Xavier, think you can kiss a little more ass?" Kael snapped at the other man. "Sarge wants us to find some kids, and suddenly it's all about committment and duty." He looked disgustedly at the others as they left, their holier-then-thou attitudes throughly misplaced. "'you have just as much invested in this town'.. invest this ya jackass," he muttered at Apollo. Although others said it was impossible to dislike the large man, Kael found it rather easy.

He sat there thinking over what the others had said, and probably more importantly what Sarge had said. Finally he jabbed a finger at the militia leader. "You did a bum-firk job gathering this group, mostly because they're soft. When they get out there stumbling around in the wilderness, Pepsi and I are the only ones who are going to have a clue. I mean hell, listen to Solomon.. 'trail doesn't get any colder then it is'. He's probably never been outside the city, and I got news for him. After four days, that trail is trash. We'll have to start a search from scratch."

Before Sarge could jump in and tell him that he could just stay there then, he held up the pointing finger. "But.. BUT.. despite all that, I'll go. Not for any particular misplaced loyalty like Pierce and Apollo seem to think. For the kids. I remember when my little brother was hurt, and I would have given anything if someone could have helped him. I.. guess I owe their family that much. But that doesn't mean I have to like the rest of these jokers." He dropped his leg onto the ground and stood up, shaking his head. "Best and brightest.. maybe while they're in Cedar Valley."

He walked out after the others, but unlike them didn't go anywhere except his home. His backpack, already completely packed for his aborted adventure to the new ruins held enough provisions and supplies for three days in the valley. Anything else he would need he could find while they were adventuring. He also strapped his sword onto his waist, then stopped by the armoury for some leather armour. It was about the only thing he felt he needed from the city.

When he arrived at the stables, he looked around at the others, then spoke. "I don't give a damn what you guys think about me, or my loyalties to this place, let's get that straight. I've never liked being confined here, and if you guys do, that's fine. I'm going to find these kids, and I'll keep you alive as best I can in an area that's not your element. If you don't want to listen to what I say, that's fine. If you want to make grand speeches about how I'm an idiot or my committments, shove it up your ass. Let's just get this job done so that we can go back to avoiding eachother, allright?"

He turned and started saddling another horse. If they wanted to make any replies, they could do it to his back; he really didn't give a damn.

"I can see we're going to get along just fine, my friend," X says with a twisted smile.  "And you apparently forgot that I'm new to this little community.  I've probably seen more out there than any of you."  His voice drifts off.  "More than I wanted to.  You'd be good to respect those in charge and try to make friends instead of enemies."

He makes sure to give the cards back to Solomon and then says to Kael, "And call me X.  Only my mother calls me Xavier."

As the party trails away behind Kael, X says in challenge to Kael, "Have you seen the sunset on the plains of Roadan?  Or the gamma tempests of H-2 on a summer day?  Have you heard the frightening bark of an ark?  I have fought things you can't imagine in your wildest nightmares, lad.  I have seen things that would drive sanity from your brain."  He turns to the others with an apologetic bow.  "Sorry about my driveling on like that.  Let's continue on, shall we?"

[Private to GM: These are lies just to get their respect.  X hopes no one will recognize them as lies.]

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Kael Laton
-----------------------------------------------------------
"You're not the one in charge," Kael replied pointedly, "and yes, you WERE driveling. I'm not interested in what you've killed, or what you've seen. Can you survive when all you have is a blanket and a knife, with no food or water? Can you tell me the fastest way to the Grog village on foot from here? Xavier?"

The use of his name was no mistake. Kael didn't start that many fights, besides his attitude, but he was no slouch at finishing them. Xavier was already on his "pompous ass" list, and that made him one notch lower on the survival chain as far as Kael was concerned.

===========================================================
Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Xavier Ashe
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Your piddly excuse for an attitude impresses no one," X says.  "I could carve you into tomorrow's lunch with my sword.  Besides, doesn't everyone know the fastest way to Grog village?  And yes, I could survive with only a blanket and a knife, and with no food or water."  He yawns, shaking his head.  "It is no use having a battle of the wits with one so unarmed as you, my friend.  Why don't you walk with Dawson and regale him with your virtues."

X is smiling throughout the exchange.  Now he frowns, turning to the others.  "I do apologize.  I'm afraid my temper gets away from me sometimes.  Just so you know, I do not want to be your leader.  Why don't we put Kael in charge?  Then he can't complain."  X is completely serious in this suggestion.

Re: Team Alpha - Act 1 Scene 1 - The Missing by Apollo

Apollo simply shakes his head as X and K sort out their feelings for each other.  "If you're all done comparing your packages.  Maybe we can get down to business?"

"As for your suggestion X."  He raises an eyebrow in Kael's direction, "You may have the know how to get around.  But do you think everyone's going to want to trust you to lead them?"

"Lead? You're fargin' nuts if you think I even want to dream about leading," Kael assured Apollo. "And Xavier, cram it before I convince myself that a knife in your back will do me a world of good. I'm not interested in you trying to puff yourself up for the others, I'm interested in getting this job done. Oh, and for future reference? No, not everybody knows the fastest way to the Grog village, least of all a motor-mouthed excuse for a soldier like yourself who likes sucking up to the local authority."

He looked back at Apollo and the others. "Lead? If by that you mean be the one who's in front, no problem. If you mean give orders, pick someone else. I'm just along to track if necessary, to find food, and to find the kids. Past that I don't have any interest in being anything more then a member of a group Sarge thinks can get the job done."

With a final jerk on the saddle cinch, he glared daggers at Xavier. "Any more testosterone you want to spit my way or can you put your pride aside and focus on the kids." With that he mounted his horse and waited for the others to follow suit.

Grinning widely, "Sarge, you can count on me!" Looking over at X and Kael, "Well, why don't we provision up and head out. That way your arguing can attract a band badders and then you can find out who's boss then." I walk off to the militia mess hall, while giving a snarky look on my face to X and Kael for their arguing.

At the armory I pickup a dagger and shortsword in case I have close up fighting to do. I run back home to grab my light leather jacket that appears to be a crudely fashioned bomber jacket and my sling with bag of stones. I finally meet everyone at the stables ready to ride out.

When the rest of the group made it to the stables, it was obvious that he had missed some exchange, as tensions ran high between Kael and Xavier.  Kael seemed to be estranging himself from the group for some reason.  Solomon didn't know why, but he figured that Kael had his reasons.

As the others chose their mounts and saddled up, Solomon mounted his horse and waited.

(OOC: as an aside to Kael, the trail at the Bernard farm is cold.  But the incidents are reoccurring at the Gooselin farm, which is where we are going.  The trail there will likely be fresher.)

Pepsi sat there listening to what was being said and what was not being said as he continued to run his knife point under a nail.  Once the cat was out of the bag, he knew why he  had been brought here.  Along with Kael, he was to be the tracker and that was something he was more than willing to do.  He had first hand experience with family members disappearing.  Anything he could do, he would do.

Despite Kaels very verbal misgivings, he felt the man would join them also.  He was more than likely to take up any reason to get out of the area and the town in particular.  After more than one heated exchange, he friend confirmed his belief and stated that he would do it for the kids.  His friend did surprise him a bit with some of his comments though, causing Pepsi a moment of concern.  He knew that Kael was smart enough to understand that they would very likely have to work as a team to find these kids but he could not actually put his finger on what had set him off.  They both liked to spend as little time as possible in town but this struck Pepsi as more than usual.

He remained seated while the others filed from the room.  He then stood and walked to the Sergeant.  He continued to clean under his nails as he spoke.  ”We’ll find those kids Sergeant.” he said then turned and strode towards and out the door.  He made his way to the militia hall and picked up the mentioned food packs and also took a couple of extra bow stings and a second quiver of arrows.  Once that was done, he joined the others at the stable.

Solomon wore a suit of leather armor borrowed from the Militia.  At his side hung a rapier. Across the back of the saddle were slung saddle bags, and within easy reach in a saddle sheath was a bow and quiver.  He carried a travel guitar wrapped in his bedroll.

(OOC: For those of you who have never seen one, a travel guitar is a little shorter than usual and has a small body.  You can go here for a picture: http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--DAVGBPC )

As magnanimous as Apollo always tried to be, Kael was giving plenty of reason for Apollo not to like him.  However, Apollo led on.  The children were more important than any petty squabble.  Though he'd have to keep an eye on that one.  Who know's when he'd snap and go on a murderous rampage.

At the supply house, Apollo offers to carry most of the equipment.  Though it might seem impossible, he's even stronger then he looks.

Pierce got on his horse. He also wore leather borrowed from the militia, along with a short sword and short bow. He had a couple of blankets and some other gear (not much). The saddle bags on his horse looked to contain nothing but food.

"We ready to head out?"

"Past ready." Solomon agreed with Pierce with a smile.  He spurred his horse forward, heading at a gallop towards the Gooselin farm.

"Let's go."  He called as he started towards the Gooselin farm.  Apollo dressed lightly, apart from his usual tank top and trousers he took only his white leather coat.  Along with a bedroll and about a week's worth of supplies.

Checking my horse so that my gear and provisions are stowed properly, "I'm ready and able when you fella's are. Lets find us some missing citizens."

Kael Laton typed:He sat there thinking over what the others had said, and probably more importantly what Sarge had said.

"You secure that mouth, youngster. I called you here for your skills not your attitude." says Sarge, grinning.

Kael Laton typed:Before Sarge could jump in and tell him that he could just stay there then, he held up the pointing finger. "But.. BUT.. despite all that, I'll go.

"You underestimate them by a long shot, and overestimate yourself. But you will see that, eventually." says Sarge, as Kael walks out the door.

Alpha Team had supplied themselves and mounted up. Apollo led the way, which was good because he knew the farmland area well. The team travelled for about three hours. The day was hot, the sun beat down on them like a sledge hammer. The insects were a nuisance, but one they could live with.

As they crested a hill, near a section of trees, they saw a large insectoid creature, who held a man in his arms. The pair were about 50 yards away. The creature, which resembled some kind of termite-man hybrid, was dragging the man along toward the trees.

The man saw you and screamed out, "Buggems NO! Buggems NO!"

The creature picked up its pace and dragged the man to the edge of the trees before looking back at you with it's alien insect eyes.
